Advanced Kintsugi: The Alchemy of Healing *in person

Each of us holds experiences that can make us feel broken. The Japanese art of Kintsugi allows us to embrace the broken places, accept what has changed and learn to create with what remains. By mending the cracks between our broken pieces, we build resilience and strength. Our beauty shines through the cracks, and we can find we are truly stronger in the broken places.

In this advanced version of the Kintsugi art of healing workshop we recognize that certain experiences of change and breaking alter us in ways that require a re-making/RE-IMAGINING into another form, we can’t just put the pieces back we actually need to evolve into something different, such that even the shape itself transforms.

In this workshop we will identify the circumstance of breaking that needs to be honored through this alchemical transformational process and create sculptures with our broken pieces.
Check out pic and video below for one example of this unique process:

All materials included, however you will probably want to bring some sculptural elements of your own of symbolic meaning such as jewelry or other tokens. Bring a sack lunch or something to share for a potluck and a few special items to create your own altar.

Wear comfortable clothes you won’t mind getting paint on.

Workshop hours:
Saturday July 16th 9:30-5pm, additional open studio time to continue working is from 5-9pm
Sunday July 17th 12-4pm, additional open studio time to continue working is from 9:30am-12pm.

A picture is worth a thousand words, here are a some photos from previous Kintsugi workshops — we will be using a similar process but going “beyond the bowl” and you may choose to use more than 1 bowl or vessel to break and reassemble depending on your unique healing circumstance. There will be ample time to journal and discuss!
