We come to the studio not to perform,
but to pay attention.
An 8-week intuitive painting series inspired by The Creative Act: A Way of Being
Sorry, this class is now full with a waiting list.
This 8-week immersive series is an invitation into a different relationship with creativity—one rooted not in striving or self-improvement, but in attention, openness, and trust.
Using the simple, generous tools of brushes, paint, and large surfaces, we’ll step into intuitive painting as a practice of listening. Rather than trying to “make something good,” we’ll learn how to notice what is already moving through us—and how to get out of its way.
This class is inspired by Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act: A Way of Being, which frames creativity not as a talent some people have, but as a state of receptivity we can all cultivate. Together, we’ll explore creativity as a lifelong conversation—one that asks us to show up, pay attention, and respond honestly.

Friday mornings, January 23 – March 13
10:00am–1:00pm
8-week series
What we’ll explore
Intuitive painting as a way to quiet the mind and amplify inner listening
How to work with resistance, doubt, and uncertainty rather than against them
Practices for staying open during the natural ebbs and flows of inspiration
Developing trust in your creative instincts—on the canvas and in daily life
Creativity as devotion: returning again and again, without force or judgment
No previous art experience is needed. This is not about technique or outcomes—it’s about willingness, curiosity, and presence.
A Collective Side Quest
Alongside the painting process, we’ll engage in a gentle, playful, and meaningful creative ritual inspired by The Creative Act. Over the course of the series, you’ll help create a collective 78-card oracle deck, contributing a handful of your own intuitive cards while receiving a full deck formed from the shared imagination of the group by the end of the series. The weekly contemplations offered in the Creative Act you will be creating oracle cards for also serve as a guide and companion to your own creative process through the magic of synchronicity.
There is no right way to do this and no pressure to keep up or “do it well”—each week’s offering is simply an act of attention, curiosity, and response to what’s alive for you.

You’re welcome back exactly where you are.

A glimpse of the experience
People often arrive thinking they’re coming to “paint,” and leave realizing they’ve been practicing something much larger—how to listen, how to stay open, how to trust what wants to move through them. The studio becomes a place where effort softens, judgment loosens its grip, and creativity begins to feel less like something you chase and more like something you receive. What unfolds in your painting has a way of quietly following you home.
If you feel a quiet pull toward a more honest, spacious, and sustaining creative life, this series is an invitation to begin—or return.
This 8 week class series is Friday mornings 10am-1pm, Jan. 23rd thru March 13th.
