We’re moving the studio outside for this 7 week session of Intuitive Painting, introducing some new materials (old favorites - tempera paint and heavy paper - always available!).

In this 7 week series discover the rhythms and alchemy of painting outside. The covered, but open air, carport is being transformed into a working studio but you will also be able to move your painting board and wander with it down to the canal or create your own world under a pop-up tent or lean your board against the house in the back garden….
How does your journey of Intuitive Painting change and grow by being “in the elements”? What does painting outside allow to happen that might not happen indoors?
Some new materials will be added and made available to you that are conducive to outdoor work :
Thin smooth boards that LOVE tempera paint as an alternate to painting on paper.
House paints + spray paints (sprays used in an isolated area of yard to keep fumes contained)
Outdoor fire (when wind-weather permits) - offers an abundance of charcoal and chance to burn papers and boards as process elements
Each student will receive a tiny (5”X3”) mixed media heavy-duty journal with the challenge issued of filling it with sketches, doodles, collages and recordings of your painting process by the end of the 7 weeks. Prompts given weekly!
One make up sessions will be available for missed classes, date determined at first class.
Indoors (kn95 mask on) available for bathrooms, cooling off, supplies, rainstorms etc. And, I’m not opposed to a few people working inside as needed due to heat/wind/rain or personal need on a given day. However, this class is designed to be an outdoor class primarily.
Updated Covid-19 Policy {December 2021}:
At this time I am opening the studio only to vaccinated students, proof required. Out of an abundance of caution due to highly transmissible Omicron variant, and because locally we are experiencing a high infection rate, masks are required in all indoor spaces, masks are optional when socially distanced outside. I will provide a kn95 mask for you if you arrive without one.
